SPRINGS’ A POPPIN

 

         

On Saturday, May 1st, the West Point/Tri-Rivers Chamber of Commerce hosted their 7th Annual Springs’ A Poppin at the West Point Square Shopping Center.  The Chamber would like to thank the following for their contributions and support:  Michael Modr (Modr’s Servicenter) and Lynn Shackleford (Larrymoore).  Also to our vendors, AmeriCare Plus, BayLands Federal Credit Union, Berry’s Produce, Bloomers, Boy Scouts Troop 340, Parent Child Development Corp., Rivah Bounce, LLC, Serendipity Corner, Tidewater AG Enterprises, West Point High School Students without Drugs, West Point Police Dept., and the West Point Volunteer Fire & Rescue Auxiliary.  A “special” thank you to our volunteers, Lori Nein, Maureen Medlin, Stuart Jackson and Janice McGowan  Thank you for making this another successful year.

 

   

 

 

                                       JAMMIN ON THE POINT

 

          The next Jammin on the Point Concert Series will be Friday, May 28th from 6 –9:30 at the West Point Town Square Park.  The featured artists are Groove Tide.  Free admission.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase.  Come out for an evening of food, family and fun!!!

CHAMBER MEETING

 

          The next general membership meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 3rd      at 7:00 p.m. in the Downtown Business Center.  Our guest speaker is Dave Lipscombe with L! Marketing and Design.  If you cannot attend, please send someone to represent you or your business!    

 

 

 

CRAB CARNIVAL

 

          The Crab Carnival Committees have been meeting monthly and are hard at work preparing for the 28th Annual West Point Crab Carnival.  The next meeting is Tuesday, June 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Downtown Business Center at 621 Main Street.

 

 

 

 

WELCOME BAGS

 

          The Chamber office is in need of supplies (rulers, cups, coupons, etc.) for our “Welcome Bags”.  Remember this is a great way to advertise your business or service to new residents.

Entry Fee:

$15 per person postmarked by June 11, 2010 (includes race t-shirt)

$20 per person after June 11, 2010 (t-shirts while they last)

 

Course:

The course loops through downtown West Point passing the home of Chesty Puller, goes over the Mattaponi River bridge into King and Queen County, comes back over that bridge into West Point and continues over the Pamunkey River Bridge in Eltham, comes back over that bridge, and turns right on asphalt.  Two water stops are on the course and will each be passed twice.  No official times after 90 minutes.

Directions:

From the West: I-64 to Exit 220 East to West Point.  Cross over the Eltham Bridge (over the Pamunkey River) and immediately make a right turn on Kirby Street.  Park in the gravel lot at 8th Street.

From the East: Route 17 North, West on Route 33 to West Point.  Cross over the Lord Delaware Bridge (over the Mattaponi River).  Turn left at second streetlight (Main Street).  Turn right on 8th Street and follow to Kirby Street.  Park in gravel lot.
